What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. Get to know your Realtor. How long have they lived on the island? Are they involved with Realtor board activities? If they return your phone calls and messages within 12 hours you know someone is interested in you. Make sure the Realtor you use is trained and is preferrable attained the Broker status. Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?

A. There are some many ways of buying properties, many different types of loans, and your Realtor should be able to find you the right loan to fit your needs. And a general knowledge of the area is of great importance. Sometimes the public has no idea where the properties are located, A good realtor will be able to describe locations in an instant. And you see many different alphabet letters behind a Realtor's name. This progression shows they have taken the time to educate themselves for your benefit.

Q. What questions should a consumer ask to hire the right service professional?

A. Consumers need to know just who they are talking to, how long they've been in the business, what their number of sales and sale volume has been, and how they can help you achieve your needs. Consumers need to ask questions as well as communicate their needs. Don't be afraid to ask for what you want....it may just be attainable. If you need help with a bank, mortgage company, moving companies, land surveyor, or builder; your Realtor should be able to help you. Find out if your Realtor is familiar with all these different industries and it will save you plenty of time and effort
